PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filter provides the best possible filtration protection against wear, oil degradation, rust and corrosion. Working in conjunction with the engine’s full-flow oil filter, the AMSOIL By-Pass Filter operates by filtering oil on a "partial-flow" basis. It draws approximately ten percent of the oil at any one time and traps the extremely small, wear-causing contaminants and water that full-flow filters can’t remove. The AMSOIL By-Pass Filter typically filters all the oil in the system several times an hour, so the engine continuously receives analytically clean oil.

New By-pass Parts to ease install

AMSOIL now offers new by-pass components to ease the installation of the BMK21 By-Pass Filtration System in three popular diesel engines: the Ford 6.0L Power Stroke™, the Dodge 5.9L Cummins and the General Motors 6.6L Duramax.

Engine compartments are becoming increasingly cramped, leaving little room for after-market additions and improvements. The BMK-21 is a single remote bypass filter system that fits into much smaller spaces than the AMSOIL Dual-Remote By-Pass System.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke™ Diesels

To ease installation of the BMK21 on 2003 and later model Ford pickups equipped with the 6.0L Power Stroke™ diesel engine, AMSOIL provides the new Aluminum Billet Oil Filter Cap (BK1101) [item 3], the Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap (BK1102) [item 2] and the 1/8” NPT - 1/4” JIC 90° Elbow (BP242). These new high-quality billet aluminum caps replace the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) filter cap and oil fill cap. The new caps have holes tapped in them that accept the JIC elbows for hose connectors.

Complete BMK21 installation requires specific components be purchased separately. 
Each engine requires the purchase of different items.

Dodge 5.9L Cummins Diesels

To ease installation of the BMK21 in 2004 and later model Dodge pickups equipped with the 5.9L Cummins diesel engine, AMSOIL offers the new 1/8” NPT - 1/4” JIC fitting (BP241), the Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap for Dodge 5.9L Cummins diesels (BK1301) [item 2] and the 90° Elbow (BP242). The BP241 fits onto the existing plug on top of the OEM full-flow filter mount, and the addition of the BK-1301 eases the installation of the oil return line.

General Motors 6.6L Duramax Diesels

To ease installation of the BMK21 in GM pickups equipped with the 6.6L Duramax diesel engine, AMSOIL offers an Oil Filter Sandwich Adapter (BK1201) [item 1]. The Sandwich Adapter is an anodized billet aluminum adapter that screws onto the OEM full-flow oil filter nipple located on the engine block. The full-flow filter is then spun onto the adapter. The Sandwich Adapter has an orifice that provides a high-pressure oil feed for the BMK21. AMSOIL also offers an Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap for GM 6.6L Duramax diesels (BK1202) [item 2] that eases the installation of the oil flow from the BMK21 back to the engine, as well as the 1/8” NPT - 1/4” JIC 90° Elbows (BP242).

Note: The By-pass kit's come with 8 feet of hose. Amsoil recommends that No more than 8 feet total length of hose be exceeded to the location where the kit will be located.

It is recommend that you determine where on your Vehicle you will be mounting it so you can order any extra parts you may need. Plan out install location and order everything needed the first time.

Trick here: Cut an old garden hose at 8ft once you find a location and try routing the "Hose" to that location. Then mark it and see how much hose you will require. Remember to leave a little slack to allow for engine movement.

Reduces Wear

Approximately 60 percent of all engine wear is caused by dirt particles in the 5 to 20 micron range. These particles can get inside the precision clearances between engine components and cause severe damage. While full-flow oil filters generally stop contaminants no smaller than 25 to 40 microns, the AMSOIL By-Pass Filter effectively stops particles smaller than one micron in size, substantially reducing engine wear.

Prevents Oil Degradation, Rust and Corrosion

Water enters motor oil as a combustion by-product or as a condensate. Water contamination of the motor oil can cause extreme engine damage. Water causes metal surface rust and corrosion, which increases friction and wear and deteriorates the close-fitting tolerances between engine components. In addition, water reacts with other oil contaminants to form corrosive acids, which also damage metal components. The AMSOIL By-Pass Filter removes water, reducing the risk of oil degradation, engine rust and corrosion.

Extends Oil Drain Intervals

Because the AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filter removes water and particles smaller than one micron, it significantly increases the time oil can safely be left in the engine. In fact , engines using AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil and an AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filter routinely show much lower rates of engine wear - even when the oil is used for significantly longer drain intervals - than engines using conventional products and conventional oil drain intervals. That saves motorists time and money and helps protect the environment by creating substantially less used oil.

Dual Remote Filter System

The AMSOIL Dual Remote Oil Filtration System converts an engine’s full-flow oil filter system into a full-flow/by-pass oil filtration system by attaching an AMSOIL Full-Flow Oil Filter and AMSOIL Spin-On By-Pass Oil Filter onto a remote mount. The Dual Remote System provides superior filtration efficiency, increased oil capacity and improved oil filtration accessibility. Large Trucks, Construction, Farm and Industrial Equipment, (minimum sump capacity = 15 qt.), the BMK30 kit can be mounted in series for sump capacities greater than 42 quarts.
Normal Service Life: When used in conjunction with AMSOIL motor oil and an EaO or Donaldson Endurance filter, the EaBP should be changed every other full flow filter change up to 60,000 miles. When used with other brands of motor oil or full flow filters, the EaBP filter should be changed every other full flow filter change. AMSOIL recommends using oil analysis when extending oil drain intervals.
